Laos confirms full team for 2026 ASEAN Chess Championships
The Federation has finalised the 10-player squad that will represent Laos in Bangkok this November.
After a four-event selection cycle, the Laos Chess Federation has confirmed the national squad for the 2026 ASEAN Chess Championships. The team will be led by reigning national champion Somchai Phommavong and includes three players under the age of 18.
FIDE Arbiter Seminar coming to Vientiane in September
A four-day FA Norm seminar will be held at the Vientiane Chess Academy, conducted by an International Arbiter from FIDE Zone 3.3.
Registration opens July 1. Places are limited to 24 candidates. Successful examinees will earn a FIDE Arbiter norm.
New school chess program launches in Luang Prabang
Partnering with the Ministry of Education, the Federation will roll out weekly chess sessions in 12 primary schools.
The pilot program will reach over 600 students in its first year, with trained coaches visiting each school weekly.
May 2026 national rating list published
Updated ratings now available, with 14 new players crossing 1800.
